Mont Blanc in one day ✅
Ever since moving to Chamonix three years ago I’ve been gazing up at the summit of Mont Blanc, clearly visible from the valley, wondering if I could do it in one day. It’s a pretty big undertaking with 30 km distance and almost 4000 m of continuous elevation gain (and loss). There for sure are not many other places around where you get that kind of hill workout!
So when @lottahintsa told me she was coming to Chamonix this week and that she “kinda wants to do Mont Blanc in a day” while she’s here, I jumped at the opportunity. I knew that it was finally going to happen.
Yesterday all the stars aligned: we had a stable weather window, conditions on the normal route are currently top notch 👌🏼 and both Lotta and I were feeling prepared with lots of vert in our legs from the past weeks.
We certainly didn’t aim to set any insane speed records this time, we were just happy to do it in one push and to get familiar with the route. Back at the car park in Les Houches, my watch stopped at 16 h 53 min (which is, funny enough, still more than 2h faster than the official unsupported male FKT 😏).
Thanks @lottahintsa for the conversations, the laughs, and for sharing this special experience with me. There are few people in this world I’ve met who would be as stoked for this challenge as you were – and who’d do it so well, always smiling. You are badass ⚡️
