Sörmlands 100 Halfmarathon🥈
My first half marathon turned out to be the trail half at @sormlands100 yesterday 🥈
For once, I actually properly tapered in the days leading up to the race (why is resting so hard?!) and it paid off. On the starting line I felt stronger than I have in a long time, and in the end I finished 2nd, 2 seconds behind super strong @runninglifeofhelena 💪🏽
The hardest part was knowing how flat the race was — the course went mainly on trails and sometimes even off-trail, but with only 300 m elevation gain 😬 I’m not used to such runnable races, so in the long, flat-ish uphills was where I struggled the most. My mind was constantly hoping for long downhills to cruise down on… but they never came!
More than anything, this race was a great training session and it was nice to see that there’s still some speed left in my legs after long low-intensity days in the mountains this summer 😄 I think I’ll always remain a mountain goat at heart, but I have to say half marathon might be my new favorite distance… and now I’m actually keen on trying out a flat road HM to see how well I can perform.
Thanks to @sormlands100 for putting up a such a familiar event with a great ambience and atmosphere!
