Why I run far

When you’re out running for 6+ hours a day for six days, you’ve got a lot of time to think. Well, actually, a lot of my time spent running the Haute Route I didn’t think about much at all. My mind was blank and a majority of the time my only focus was on setting one foot in front of the other. But there were also times when my mind was more active than others — especially when I was suffering because of the heat or lack of food or just because my body was exhausted from the long days.

Let's talk periods / The female endurance athlete

A couple of years ago I lost my period. It didn’t return until 4 years later, earlier this spring. I didn’t see how serious it was back then. I thought about how nice it was not to have to deal with it — the hormones playing games on me, and having to plan my life around my period. It was convenient.

Piz Badile North Face

One of my best memories from this summer is from heading over to Switzerland with @jostkobusch in August to climb the North face of Piz Badile. It was a beautiful little get-away sleeping under the stars, climbing this 900 m vertical wall with incredible views across the Swiss Alps, and arriving at the summit late in the evening — meaning we had to spend the night in the emergency bivouac hut at the summit with two very friendly Italian guys.
